Eugenides' "Middlesex"

when i first heard about the book, i wondered what the author was referring to. it was a good thing i caught Oprah's interview of Mr. Eugenides. he mentioned the fact that it took him 5 years to write the book because not being an intersexual himself, he made sure that the medical part of it was well-researched. with that, i couldn't help but admire the man, not only for his passion but for trying on an intersexual's shoes.

i am just in the first 50 pages of the book. the first sentence whetted my appetite, which goes:
"I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974. "
this could be a good weekend to finish the book. so thank God i'm not in Baguio :)

i've read that already. i won't spoil it for you, but it's the first book i read that tackled that particular theme of his. :)

i don't mind being told what you thought about the book. i only mind being told what actually transpired by narrating the storyline :)
