an early Christmas gift

just last wednesday, we were back at the hospital for my nephew's tests (2d echo and some lab tests for platelets and ESR).

the results of all the tests are very heartwarming and can be considered as an early gift. when we got the results for the pedia to interpret, we all heard good news. my nephew will be taken off the meds he is currently taking within two weeks time. more than this, the dilated arteries of his heart have returned to almost the normal size of arteries. these are good news indeed.

after the life-threatening illness contracted by my nephew, we have been hoping and praying for his recovery. after all, he is not just one of the grandchildren of my parents but he is the APPLE of their eyes. so much so that he has become spoiled and bratty. he almost always gets what he wants, but that could be attributed also to his charms. he knows when to work them and when he does, the charm really works.

well, Christmas is indeed sweeter this year. a lot has happened in the family. i could only pray that there would be room for forgiveness and acceptance in our hearts. after all, when we become old and look back at how we lived our lives, we will not measure life's goodness by how much money we have earned nor how many awards we have garnered but by how we have known so much happiness that peace of mind, contentment and love brings.

truly, life is short and it should not be wasted on futile pursuits of "success."

for in the long run, as John Maynard Keynes would have it, we will all be dead.
