i was left with an hour or so to while away. and it brought me to megamall's booksale where i found these:
Martin Amis' "London Fields" was depicted by the Washington Post as "a book that buzzes around in your brain long after you've gone on to other things." since i rarely get to read such a review of books, i was enticed to pick this.
"On Beauty" by Zadie Smith is among the 1001 books one should read before one dies. i have read her first book, "White Teeth" back in college and found her lyrically enchanting. i love how she plays with words. in this one, the Washington Post labelled her "a postmodern Charles Dickens."
Toni Morrison's "Song of Solomon" is also among the list of 1001 books one must read before one dies (and obviously, i'm not only planning to read the 1001 books but i also plan to have complete hard copies of them. wish me luck!)
William Kennedy's "The Albany Novels" fetched a PhP115.00 tag, and all three novels are there. what a bargain!
"The Loss of Leon Meed" by Josh Emmons was dubbed by The New York Times as "jauntily clever" and i want to find out what exactly that means.
owing to the growing number of books that i have accumulated since the bar exams were over, i am making a pact to stop buying more and catch up on reading everything (unless, there's a really hard to find book which is being sold at a bargain).

hmmm... I've heard more reviews that slated White Teeth than liked it. It was kind of average for me but I do have On Beauty on my shelf to read so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like.
Anyway, I guess as you know about the 1001 books list, you're aware of the 1001 Books spreadsheet and have a copy of the new v4 edition, right? If not, head over to the spreadsheet page on Arukiyomi.
no, i haven't heard about that one. thanks for the info.
well, i'm no literary critic, i take the book as it is and how i react to it. i happened to like White Teeth. and i don't really care if others don't share the same view.
of those books, i've already read Song of Solomon and Ironweed - both are great reads. :)
i checked out the link to the 1001 books list, and, to my horror, i've only read 136! hindi pa pala ako puwedeng mamatay. hahaha
oo nga .. dami mo na books dianne, ubosin mo muna basahin .. hehe ;)
Ms. Angeli, of those in the list, i've read only 50 but i have 30 more which i have yet to read. so hindin hindi pa talaga pwede mamatay :)
Jaz, sabi nga ng sister ko, ang liit2 ng condo, baka isang araw wala na daw space sa bahay dahil puno na ng libro. "hoarder" na nga daw ako e. hehehe.
