for my friday evening classes, i was almost late. i hurriedly hailed a cab as it was already 5PM by my watch. when i got in, i immediately told manong where i was headed.
after being comfortably seated at the back, manong tried to engage me in the usual five-minute conversation inside the cab. he then brought the topic of my school's stand regarding PGMA and the call for her ouster. i told him, i really have no idea what the school's stand is. however, i offered him my own take on the matter which is that, if we are to ask PGMA to step down, would it really spell the end of corruption in the country? i don't think so. moreover, the problem of corruption is not only rooted in the system but the system thrives thereon.
i was astounded when manong curtly retorted that, given that corruption would still be around even with PGMA's ouster, there is still a need to oust her now because this is the point in time wherein PGMA would amass all that she could amass. after all, what's the harm, even Erap got absolute pardon after serving some time in a lovely prison in Rizal.
i was left to ponder on manong's thoughts when i got off the cab.
hay..where is the Inang Bayan going to? some say, to the dogs and i cannot help but agree with them.
God bless the Philippines!
